César Muñoz

César Muñoz is Americas associate director at Human Rights Watch (HRW). He has produced reports, videos, and op-eds on human rights abuses linked to illegal deforestation, police abuses, inhumane prison conditions, misuse of the judicial system to persecute political opponents, and unchecked domestic violence. Prior to HRW, Muñoz has worked for Agencia EFE, as a correspondent and later as bureau chief in Ecuador, Paraguay, and Brazil. Muñoz also worked as a journalist for CNN, Europa Press TV, and other media outlets in the United States and Spain. While a Bloomberg Fellow from 2001-2002 he produced HRW’s first report on US counterterrorism policy after the 9/11 attacks. He is a graduate of Sacred Heart University and the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University.
