Carlos Urzúa

Secretary of Finance and Public Credit,

Carlos Urzúa is the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico. He served as Secretary of Finance of the government of Mexico City from 2000-2003 and founded the Graduate School of Public Administration at Tecnológico de Monterrey, which he directed from 2003-2013. He was previously a professor-researcher at El Colegio de México from 1989-2000 and was a visiting professor in various national and foreign universities, including Princeton and Georgetown. He has authored and edited books on economics and other areas. He has also worked as a consultant to the World Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the United Nations Development Programme, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Urzúa holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
