Augusto de la Torre works as a freelance Senior Policy Consultant, teaches at Columbia University’s School of Public and International Affairs, is Director of the Economics Research Center at the Universidad de las Américas in Quito, Ecuador, and is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He worked at the World Bank for 20 years until 2016, including 10 years as Chief Economist for Latin America. Previously, he served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Ecuador and as an Economist for the International Monetary Fund. He earned his MA and PhD degrees in economics at the University of Notre Dame and holds a degree in philosophy from the Catholic University of Ecuador.
