Alessandra Pinna

Senior Program Manager, Freedom House

Alessandra Pinna is the Senior Program Manager for the Latin America and the Caribbean programs at Freedom House. In this capacity, she manages programs on democratic governance, civic engagement, strengthening of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Latin America, and oversees Washington-based and regional staff.      

Alessandra joined Freedom House in 2013, previously she served as a researcher at Roma Tre University and coordinated various campaigns to foster democracy and protect human rights as a member of the Transnational Radical Party. She received her PhD in Political Science and Democracy Studies from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Florence, Italy). She participated in several research programs, both in Italy and abroad (Yale University and University of Belgrade). Her research papers and articles on regime change, democratization and democracy promotion have been published by Routledge, Palgrave Macmillan and MCU Press among others.   

Pinna was an event speaker at the Dialogue.
