Alejandra Mora Mora is a Costa Rican jurist, feminist, researcher, and academic widely recognized in the international community for her activism on behalf of the rights of women and girls. Since August 16, 2019, she has occupied the strategic position of executive secretary of the Inter-American Commission of Women in the OAS. In 2024, Mora Mora was decorated with the Legion of Honor of the French Republic. She was minister for the status of women in Costa Rica, president of the National Women’s Institute from 2014 to 2018, and director of the women’s ombudsman’s office in the ombudsman’s office of Costa Rica.
Mora Mora received a degree in law from the University of Costa Rica in 1989. She completed specialized courses at the University of Lund and Raoul Wallenberg in Sweden in 1997. Mora Mora obtained her master’s degree in constitutional law from the State University of Distance Education of Costa Rica in 2004, and her postgraduate degree in human rights at the University of Chile in Santiago de Chile in 2007. She is the author of multiple articles and books about the human rights of women.
