Play is an integral component in the development of children and adolescents since through it, they can interact with the environment related to the world, other people, and nature. Play also strengthens their imaginative capacity and enhances their encounters with humans and non-humans.

In Colombia, with the advances of public policies for the development of children, play is recognized as a right, as a guiding activity for early childhood, and as a fundamental element for the accomplishment of the rights of children and adolescents.

Within the framework of the agreements reached in the Quality in Early Education Forum in 2020 and in a series of webinars on the quality of early education in Colombia, the Inter-American Dialogue, with the Presidential Council for Children and Adolescents, and the support of the LEGO Foundation, seeks to promote a knowledge-sharing space comprised of two webinars that seek to explore and reflect on the role of play in the childhood agenda in Colombia. The main goal of the first meeting was to socialize and discuss the progress of policies, programs, and initiatives that promote play in childhood.

This second meeting proposes to delve into specific themes about Play from different perspectives, such as play and education, play at home, and play in public spaces. To illustrate these themes, the meeting will focus on different significant experiences from Colombia.
