In recent years, the intertwining of criminal organizations, human trafficking, and migrants fleeing poverty and endemic violence in the Northern Triangle countries of Central America has contributed to a mounting humanitarian crisis. This dynamic between crime and migration has profound implications for human trafficking, human rights, and US foreign policy. Organized crime also complicates international efforts to secure borders and reform immigration policies. The Dialogue is pleased to host this important discussion with experts from the International Crisis Group, who will share findings from their new report on the topic: Criminal Violence and Central American Migration.
