Fresh off a successful tour of Europe and North America, Juan Guaidó returns to Venezuela with wind in his sails and renewed international support for his interim presidency. However, an uncertain future awaits him in Caracas. The Maduro regime remains entrenched, the humanitarian emergency persists, and Guaidó must mobilize his supporters while fending off Maduro’s authoritarian power play and his efforts to undermine Guaidó’s leadership.
What comes next for Venezuela and Guaidó? What steps can the international community take to defend democracy and support the Venezuelan people? Is there any hope for a political solution? To discuss these questions, the Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to host “Next Stop Caracas: Venezuela’s Uncertain Path Forward,” which will include the presentation of a new report by the Dialogue’s Venezuela Working Group.
