Event information

Remittances to Latin America and the Caribbean surpassed US$70 billion in 2016, representing a critical source of income for the region. The ways that migrants actually send this money – through remittance agencies, banks, and increasingly via online and mobile technologies — are a critical part of the transfer process.  Two new Dialogue studies shed light on remittances, emerging technologies, and opportunities for financial inclusion. The findings highlight the importance of increasing financial access through industry competition, internet-based technology applications and broad financial services.

Manuel Orozco of the Inter-American Dialogue will present key results of the survey, followed by commentary from Daniel Ayala of Global Remittance Services at Wells Fargo, who will further address issues of financial access among Latin American migrants in the United States.

Their remarks will be followed by a wide-ranging discussion. We very much hope that you can join us.
