According to most polls, Mexico’s local and congressional elections are likely to result in a victory for the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), which currently holds the largest number of seats in congress. Some of the questions we will be addressing include: How have Mexican politics changed since Pena Nieto’s election three years ago? How have recent developments affected the standing of the PRI and other political parties? How will the participation, for the first time ever, of independent candidates influence the election outcome? What are the key issues and factors that will determine the results of the elections? What are the implications of different electoral outcomes?
