He will set forth an ambitious agenda for greater equity, sustainability and prosperity,  as reflected in his recently published book, The Shared Society: A Vision for the Global Future of Latin America  (Stanford University Press).

Toledo was president of Peru from 2001 to 2006.  He now serves as president of the Global Center for Development and Democracy in Washington, D.C. He received his PhD in economics from Stanford University and has been a distinguished visiting scholar at Johns Hopkins-SAIS and a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.
