Enrollment is high, gender parity has improved, and learning standards have been updated. Yet, for many students in Jamaica, the promise of an education remains out of reach. A significant share of students leave schools without the skills to thrive in higher education or the workforce. Too many classrooms are still struggling to meet basic learning outcomes in literacy, mathematics, and science. Even as Jamaica meets international benchmarks for education spending, the reality for students tells a more complicated story.

The Education Report Card 2025, a collaborative effort by the Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CAPRI), the Inter-American Dialogue (IAD), and the Postgraduate Center for Research & Intelligence (PCRI), examines eight critical dimensions of the education system, revealing both achievements and the persistent inequities that hold students back. This assessment builds on CAPRI’s 2012 Prism of Possibility Report Card, offering fresh insights into what is working, where gaps remain, and which reforms are most urgent.

Join us on Wednesday, September 17, from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM UTC-5 / 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM ET at the University of the West Indies, Regional Headquarters Council Room, or online via CAPRI’s YouTube channel, for an engaging presentation of the report’s findings by Peter Granston (Lead Researcher, Caribbean Policy Research Institute). The panel discussion will be moderated by Damien King (Executive Director, Caribbean Policy Research Institute) and will feature Sarah Stanton (Education Program Manager, Inter-American Dialogue) and Aaron Hoilett (Executive Director, Postgraduate Center for Research & Intelligence). More speakers to be confirmed soon.

Participants, both in person and online, can interact using Slido.com, a platform for submitting questions, voting on discussion topics, and joining real-time polls to make their voice part of the conversation. Join the conversation here and enter the passcode ‘capri’.
