The effective promotion and protection of human rights through the Inter-American System depends on competent and qualified officials and judges, transparency in the election process, and active participation on the part of civil society and the public at large. In this spirit, the Center for Justice and International Law (CEJIL), the Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF), the Open Society Justice Initiative, and the Inter-American Dialogue are pleased to host to an open forum with the four candidates nominated by the member states to serve as judges on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

In this forum, the candidates will engage in an open discussion with participants about the main challenges relating to human rights in the Americas, civil society participation, and their qualifications to serve on the Court. Of the four candidates, three will be elected by the OAS member states at the forthcoming general assembly in June.
