This December, world leaders will travel to Lima, Peru to participate in United Nations COP 20 talks – the first major climate change summit to be held in Latin America since Mexico hosted the annual negotiations in 2010. Many countries in the region rank among the most vulnerable to rising global temperatures. Yet Latin American governments remain deeply divided in climate negotiations. What role will the region play in upcoming talks? And what are the prospects for more comprehensive measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, curb deforestation and improve energy efficiency in Latin America?
