Roundtable Discussion
9:00-10:30 AM
Honorary Co-Hosts: Congressman Eliot Engel (NY-16), Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20), Congressman Sam Farr (CA-20), and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23)
In the wake of the U.S. Congress’s decision to allocate $1.1 billion to responding to the current Zika virus outbreak, critical decisions will need to be made regarding how those funds are allocated. When an outbreak requires a comprehensive, well-coordinated, multi-sectoral response, which interventions should receive funding first? How does priority setting take place in this context? The multi-disciplinary discussion will feature the perspectives of experts from various fields, including epidemiology, financing, and human rights, among others.
