After a decade of considerable strain, relations between Ecuador and the United States appear to be on a more promising course. Under President Lenín Moreno, Ecuador is seeking to open up to new partners and diversify its ties. Through recently announced economic reforms that aim to attract foreign investment, and planned discussions with the US for bilateral cooperation on security issues, the US – Ecuador relationship seems poised for a more productive chapter.  To discuss the opportunities but also challenges to pursuing a better bilateral relationship, the Inter-American Dialogue is pleased to host Francisco Carrión, Ecuador’s Ambassador to the US and Todd C. Chapman, US Ambassador to Ecuador, for the first edition of Ambassador Dialogues

Ambassador Dialogues brings together current US Ambassadors in Latin America and their Latin American counterparts in Washington, DC for an open conversation on the state of bilateral relations.
