The Inter-American Dialogue is hosting a private, off-the-record conversation with Luis Vicente León, president of Datanálisis and one of Venezuela’s most respected pollsters and political analysts. The meeting will take place via Zoom on Thursday, March 24, from 3:00-4:00 pm EDT and will be open to the Dialogue’s Corporate Program and Energy Committee members, as well as other guests.
León will focus on recent developments in Venezuela’s political and economic situation and outline some scenarios for the coming period. He will share his thoughts on the recent visit to Caracas by Biden administration officials, which took place amid skyrocketing oil prices and a US ban on oil from Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. León will further discuss Venezuelan public opinion on Maduro’s authoritarian regime, the opposition, US sanctions, and negotiations, as well as the prospects for a solution to Venezuela’s crisis.
Following León’s comments, we will open the floor for a wide-ranging exchange with participants. The discussion will be moderated by the Dialogue’s President, Michael Shifter.
