Will Mexico Be Able to Reach its Clean Energy Goals?

This is no surprise as the new president has both a master’s and Ph.D. in energy engineering. This shift will undoubtedly end up benefiting the country. Mexico has experienced pronounced shifts in energy policy; whereas between 2012 and 2018 there were important developments on clean energies (for example, the Energy Transition Law of 2015), between 2018 and 2024 there was a renewed interest in fossil fuels. What we are now seeing is a fortunate re-establishment of renewable energy policies, which is highly necessary for several reasons. Mexico will not reach the 2016 Paris Agreement goals…”
