Can Lula Achieve his Plan to Halt Deforestation?

Brazil sorely needs an ambitious program, so successfully bringing together ministries across the government to create joined-up solutions, conserve key areas and tackle illegal payments resulting from forest loss would mark significant progress. What’s more, Lula is clearly in step with new European laws targeting the provenance of commodities. Under his plan, wood and agricultural goods will need to have certified, traceable origins.
