Nelson Baldeon, general manager of Global Consulting Solutions in Quito: “The eight Waorani communities settled in the area of influence of the operations objected to the state’s decision to opt for the reversal of the aforementioned oil blocks, so the strike is an obvious sign of protest that has obstructed the passage of workers, machinery and supplies. This gives power to the community while presenting a severe weakness of dialogue to the state as well as operational instability.
