We are pleased to share the third edition of “Situación de la educación en Colombia: Preescolar, básica, media y superior” (The State of Education in Colombia: Preschool, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary) published by Educación Compromiso de Todos. In this edition Alfredo Sarmiento Gómez and his team “…call attention to [how]… the educational system…reproduces inequality and poverty, and how services fall short in guaranteeing [education] for the most vulnerable populations ….”
Using the latest national data from household surveys as well as international benchmarks, the report assesses Colombia’s education performance and identifies gaps and deficiencies. It looks at indicators –such as access, quality, and staying in school–from a Right to Education perspective. The report emphasizes that vulnerable populations are least likely to be well-served by the system.
