On December 1, 2025, the Inter-American Dialogue’s Mexico Program released Strengthening North America: A Series of Infographics, developed in partnership with México, ¿cómo vamos? This new initiative draws on original analysis and projections from The North American Project, a research effort led by México, ¿cómo vamos? and the US-Mexico Foundation, which examines how Mexico, the United States, and Canada are working to shape a more prosperous and competitive regional future.
The research highlights the need for the three countries to build on the experience accumulated since NAFTA and embrace a far more ambitious joint agenda—one that extends well beyond trade. Advancing shared goals for economic growth, social development, and technological innovation will require deeper trade and investment ties, alignment of production and labor standards, and strengthened regulatory cooperation. These steps are essential for securing North America’s supply chains, accelerating innovation, and positioning the region as a global benchmark for resilience and competitiveness.
Together with México, ¿cómo vamos?, the Mexico Program produced three infographics that translate these findings into accessible visual analyses.
This publication presents the first installment in the series, which focuses on regional co-production, using the auto and heavy-truck industries as clear examples of successful North American integration. The infographic illustrates how shared production platforms, cross-border value chains, and complementary industrial strengths have enabled the region to develop one of the world’s most dynamic transportation manufacturing ecosystems. It lays the groundwork for the next two infographics, which will explore supply-chain security and integration and the interdependence of agribusiness markets across North America. Together, the series offers a comprehensive, visually driven perspective on what it means to strengthen North America and the region’s great potential moving forward.
