At this moment, Brazil has very limited room to maneuver in response to President Trump’s new trade measures. Direct engagement between Brasília and the White House is constrained, making short-term breakthroughs unlikely. Still, it is essential that Brazil continue to send consistent signals of willingness to cooperate, strengthen institutional channels in Washington, and focus on areas where convergence is possible. The real challenge is to navigate this period of restriction without losing sight of long-term credibility and opportunities for alignment.
