On September 18, Peter Hakim, president emeritus of the Inter-American Dialogue, was recognized for his outstanding work toward the development of bilateral relations between Argentina and the United States. The award was presented by the Center for American Studies, a think tank based in Buenos Aires.
This award- “Bridges of America”- is granted to individuals in the realm of Latin American relations. Past honorees include Noah Mamet, former US ambassador to Argentina, Michael Werz, Senior Fellow of the Center for American Progress, Carl Meacham and Dan Restrepo – leaders in regional politics in the continent. Hakim was honored in recognition of his extensive academic contributions to the region.
After having worked in the private, international, and academic fields, Hakim continues to play a fundamental role in the advancement of the Inter-American Dialogue. He is also part of the publication Foreign Affairs Latin America and America Economia where he serves as a board member and editor, respectively. He has received multiple awards, including recognition from the governments of Brazil, Chile and Spain. Hakim earned a bachelor’s at Cornell University, a master’s in physics at the University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s in public and international affairs at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School.
