    En una entrevista con Televicentro (TVC) el 11 de abril de 2024, Manuel Orozco, director del programa Migración, Remesas y Desarrollo del Diálogo Interamericano, subrayó las acciones antidemocráticas del gobierno de Nicaragua, la captura del Estado que se desarrolla en el país y ofreció algunas estadísticas para ilustrarla.

    “No hay sociedad civil en Nicaragua en este momento. Las ONGs han sido canceladas. Legalmente se han eliminado 4,000 ONGs en un país de 5,000 ONGs. Se han eliminado 28 universidades, confiscadas la mayoría de ellas dejando prácticamente tres o cuatro universidades, dos privadas.”

    “[En Nicaragua] se han eliminado los partidos políticos y también se ha eliminado todo el sistema de prensa. No hay libertad de expresión [y] los medios de comunicación han sido cancelados también. Más de 50 medios de comunicación influyentes fueron eliminados.”
