Andrés Allamand, the foreign minister of Chile, has been elected as the Secretary-General of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB).

SEGIB joins together 22 countries that make up the Ibero-American community: 19 countries from Latin America who speak Portuguese and Spanish and those from the Iberian Peninsula, Spain, Portugal, and Andorra.

Andrés Allamand is a member on-leave of the Inter-American Dialogue.
