From the Remittance Industry Observatory: Nicaragua Country Profile and U.S. Net Migration Estimates

We’re pleased to share with you the July 2015 edition of our RIO newsletter, which presents estimates on US migrant population growth as well as a country profile of Nicaragua.

Drawing from migrant surveys and immigration enforcement data, we compare migrant inflows to migrant outflows and are able to estimate net growth in the number of Central Americans and Mexicans entering the United States in FY 2014. This growth constitutes an important opportunity for remittance companies as they seek to attract and maintain new clients from Mexico and Central America.

We also present a country profile for Nicaragua, including migration and remittance trends for two major corridors, Nicaragua – Costa Rica and Nicaragua – United States. While most remittances to Nicaragua come from the United States, the Costa-Rica Nicaragua corridor constitutes one of the most important intra-regional flows.

Wishing you all the best,
Manuel Orozco, Laura Porras, and Julia Yansura
