    Education is fundamental for economic, social, and cultural development, not to mention political stability, national identity, and social cohesion. Moreover, the high-tech businesses of today cannot thrive without people who can bring analytical, creative, and
    cooperation skills to the workplace. The availability of such workers can also have great impact on a country’s ability to attract foreign investment. The economic accomplishments of East Asia, to take but one example, can be attributed in large part to the superior quality and level of education throughout that region, which now boasts of having four of the world’s five best records in grade eight mathematics.
