Economia explica recuo da esquerda latino-americana, diz Michael Shifter

A definição de um segundo turno entre dois candidatos conservadores na eleição presidencial do Peru, no último domingo (10), foi interpretada como mais uma evidência de uma crise das esquerdas na América Latina.

O crepúsculo dessa linha política também poderia ser percebido nas manifestações contra o PT no Brasil, na eleição de Mauricio Macri na Argentina, no declínio do chavismo na Venezuela e na derrota de Evo Morales em referendo na Bolívia.

Para Michael Shifter, presidente do Inter-American Dialogue, think tank americano com foco em estudos relacionados à América Latina, entretanto, essa mudança não tem nada de ideológica.

Segundo Shifter, a transição acontece porque os cidadãos desses países estão buscando soluções pragmáticas para seus problemas, especialmente os econômicos. “A economia é mais importante”, disse à Folha.
