Venezuela’s debt load could be as much as $240 billion, an amount that would make a debt restructuring among the largest in world history, the Financial Times reported June 23. By the end of this year, acting President Delcy Rodríguez is seeking to reach a deal with creditors in hopes of returning Venezuela to international markets. Following the massive earthquakes that struck the country on June 24, how likely is Venezuela to carry out a debt restructuring, and what factors will determine its success?
