Why Did Trump Pardon Honduras’ Former President?

If you look at President Trump’s past practices, however, a pattern emerges: a.) Hernández either has something the president needs or wants; b.) Hernández has something someone close to the president needs or wants; c.) the president believes he has something to gain from attempting to tip the scales in the elections in Honduras; or d.) all of the above. This pardon clearly undermines U.S. anti-drug cooperation with Latin American countries. The United States has devoted decades to bolstering the rule of law in Latin America.
