María Fernanda Bozmoski, Central America lead and director of Impact & Operations at the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center: “With the IMF projecting growth of 3.8 percent in 2025 and a similar pace through the decade, Guatemala’s economy is on a steady trajectory. Similarly, inflation is expected to remain contained around the central bank’s 4 percent target. This stability is, in large part, anchored in resilient remittance inflows—nearly 20 percent of the country’s GDP in 2024—which continue to fuel domestic consumption. The central bank has emphasized the importance of infrastructure improvements and investor confidence to sustain momentum. Compared to its Central American peers, Guatemala enjoys notable advantages: the lowest public debt burden in the region, solid credit ratings and growth forecasts above the regional average of 2.5 percent.
