Russian companies’ plans to invest over $1 billion in Cuba by 2030, particularly in electricity production and agriculture, signal a growing economic and geopolitical alignment between Havana and Moscow. These proposed investments come at a moment of acute crisis on the island, marked by food shortages, prolonged blackouts, inflation and widespread migration, and they would offer short-term relief to critical sectors of the Cuban economy. But they also underscore a deeper strategic trend—as the United States limits its engagement with Cuba…”
