What Will the End of Humanitarian Parole Entail?

Nayla Rush, senior researcher at the Center for Immigration Studies: “The Trump administration terminated the CHNV program, which was designed by the Biden-Harris administration to allow inadmissible nationals from these countries to live and work in the United States by granting them parole. A major issue with this program, aside from its questionable legality, is that the program allows parolees who are already in the United States to sponsor who gets picked to receive parole under CHNV. Most of these parolees also lack lawful immigration status in the United States. Parole is not a visa or immigration status; it is a mere permission to enter and remain temporarily in the United States. The termination of CHNV means that beneficiaries of this program will need to depart the United States. DHS intends to prioritize for removal those who have not applied for an adjustment of…”
