Thorne, principal director at Thorne & Associates and former Peruvian finance minister: “Evidence that the economy rebounded out of last year’s recession was offered first by the April real GDP report confirming that the economy advanced 5.3 percent, and more recently by the May report with a 5 percent growth rate. Close inspection of the report indicates that most was explained by the commodity-exposed sectors that were hit last year by the El Nino weather phenomenon.
