  • Claudia Sheinbaum, the front-runner ahead of Mexico’s June 2 presidential election, told the Financial Times in a recent interview that she backs outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s judicial reforms, which aim to amend the constitution to allow the public to vote for supreme court justices and election commissioners. López Obrador’s alliance in Congress lacked the two-thirds majority needed to pass the reform in its last session, but the ruling Morena party plans to try again after new lawmakers are seated following this weekend’s general election.
