How Disruptive Is Insurtech to Existing Providers?

  • Latin America’s insurance technology sector had 536 start-ups as of the end of 2025, and the sector received $199 million in funding over the course of the year, insurer Mapfre said in a report released in early February. While the amount of funding in the insurtech sector grew 117 percent last year, it remained below the levels of investment in 2021 and 2022. What forces are driving growth and investment in the region’s insurtechs, and why has investment dipped from the levels recorded earlier in the decade?
