  • Colombia’s energy policy is poised for a significant shift as President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella has pledged to reverse key elements of President Gustavo Petro’s strategy to reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels. Petro’s administration halted new oil and gas exploration contracts in an effort to accelerate the energy transition, but critics argue that the policy has contributed to natural gas shortages and increased reliance on import ed liquefied natural gas.
