Marina Pera, analyst at Control Risks in Mexico City: “Limited energy capacity is one of the highest operational risks for companies and one of the main challenges in attracting investment to Mexico. With this in mind, the Sheinbaum administration launched a series of auctions for the energy sector, including natural gas, solar and electric energy generation projects. These auctions are in line with ‘Plan México,’ Sheinbaum’s long-term socioeconomic development plan. In addition to attracting investment to manufacturing hubs such as Nuevo León, Coahuila, Guanajuato and Jalisco, the auctions aim to strengthen energy infrastructure in other regions as well, such as Baja California Sur and Yucatán.
